One of my favorite movie scenes is during Apollo 13 when the NASA engineers are told an explosion in an oxygen tank has crippled the spacecraft and it's up to them to save the lives of the astronauts. The engineers are presented with a table full of random parts matching what is available on the spacecraft. AND they only have X amount of time to come up with a solution or game over.
You don't hear them saying this can't be done or it's impossible. No one rolls their eyes at their boss or complains about getting home at 5 o'clock. The 1960s engineers just seemed (nostalgic drum roll) to focus on solutions and answers and not be hindered by what is probable or likely. I think what if those same Apollo 13 type engineers were the entrepreneurs of internet startups today.
Would the landscape be any different?
