My son has to record his three favorite songs onto a CD as an assignment for his 7th grade music class. This assignment is causing much agida in our house. You see, he doesn't really listen to music on the radio so he isn't current with what's popular for
teeny-boppers . So my husband and I suggested a couple songs we know he likes. Me: How about YMCA? Son: (Rolls eyes) It has to be one that they are singing now Dad: How about the Chicken Dance? Son: (Abruptly leaving the room) I'll handle this by myself. I told my husband that we should have him listen to the radio station that plays all the pop music, but according to my son that is for girls, boys listen to rap. So my poor husband listened to a bunch of rap tunes on the Internet to see if there were any with family-friendly lyrics. He didn't find much. I suggested we look through our Cd's (mostly rock music) for something. According to my son only the dorks listen to rock & roll. When did rock & roll stop being cool? I know from reading all the results of the nerd tests last week that there are a bunch of cool and even uber-cool people out there. Help! What music is cool for 12-year-olds? Is rock & roll only for dorks? I need to know.
