“Using Sony Sound Forge, I created a series of "remix" songs that you can listen to using the "box" widget below. I created all of these songs without reading any instructions, but just by fooling around. The application is robust but pretty straight forward and easy to use. If you want to create your own remixes, for each of my remix songs I explain which Sound Forge tools I used.To create this first song, I copy/pasted clips from dozens of songs into one track. Sometimes the lyrics from one song flow right into the lyrics of another. For the most part, I try to keep the beats and rhythm consistent in each of the songs cliips I chose. To keep the transistions smooth I often used Paste:Mix, and Fade-In, Fade-Out. For a couple of the transitions I used Graphic Pitch. The most obvious transition with the Graphic Pitch fade effect is between the long first song clip and the second clip. This spliced up song begins with a pretty long clip from a song by Neutral Milk Hotel, continues with many short clips, and ends with a long clip of a song by Frank Black.Sound Forge Tools:Copy, Paste, Paste: Mix, Fade-In, Fade-Out, Graphic Pitch.Primary Song Credits:Arist: Neutralk Milk HotelSong: In the Aeroplane Over the SeaArist: Frank BlackSong: Los AngelesAnd about 30-40 more..."Airshirt"  I used one of my favorite R.E.M. songs to create this remix. The first thing that I did to create this song was reversed the entire track and saved it as a new file. Having both the forward and reverse track open, I used the Graphic Fade tool. For the forward track, I had the volume first fade out, then fade in, fade out, fade in, and so on. For the reverse track, I had the volume first fade in, then fade out, fade in, fade out. Finally, I copied the reverse track and Paste: Mixed the two tracks together. As you can tell when you listen to the track, as the forward track fades out, the reverse fades in, and so on. Sound Forge Tools:Reverse, Copy, Paste, Paste: Mix, Graphic FadeSong Credits:Arist: R.E.M.Song: Hairshirt"Xzibit & Weezer"   I came up with this remix kind of randomly. I happend to have the "acapella" version of an Xzibit song, and an instrumental version of a Weezer song. From listening to twh two tracks individually, they seemed to somewhat match. All I did to create this remix was Copy and Paste: Mix using Sound Forge. Sound Forge Tools:Copy, Paste: Mix Song Credits:Arist: XzibitSong: The Year 2000 (acapella)Arist: WeezerSong: Death and Destruction (instrumental)   The name of the song by the hip-hop artist Atmosphere was my inspiration for this next remix. To create this, I paste: mixed two sound effect tracks on top of the song by Atmosphere. Sound Forge Tools:Copy, Paste: MixSong Credits:Arist: Atmosphere.Song: Sound is VibrationArist: UnknownSong: Wind chimes sound effectArist: UnknownSong: Wind sound effect   One day when listening to this Nancy Sinatra song, I noticed that the lyrcs came entirely out of one speaker and the instruments came entirely out of another. When I opened the song with Sound Forge I saw that the "left channel" was the lyrics and the "right channel" was the instruments. To create this remix, I copy/pasted the song's left channel (lyrics) on top of the right channel (instruments). The result gave me an acapella version of the song. The lyrics now came out of both my speakers and there were no instruments. I identifed one of my favoriate songs by thge band Air as a good song to mix with her lyrics. All I needed to to at this point was basically the same thing I did with the Xzibt/Weezer remix.Sound Forge Tools:Copy, Paste: MixSong Credits:Arist: Nancy SinatraSong: Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)Arist: AirSong: Le Soleil Est Pres De Moi "Air and Nancy Sinatra""Atmosphere and Wind Chimes and Chimes""In the Aeroplane Over Los Angeles"”
