“I have used Evite exclusively for sending event invites over the years. There are certainly other solutions out there. My needs are simple, so I’ve never had to switch. Here’s what evite public link urls look like: http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/your.email@foo.com/mypartyname I guess the format is user friendly in that, you see who’s throwing the party and the name of the event. But it is too long and ugly. Long urls have a way of getting mucked with. I tried posting a link to my to an evite to Google Groups. Tada! Instant url mucking! Actual: http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/your….@gmail.com/mypartyname What user is going to figure this one out? Most likely they will never see the invite. Bah!!!”

I was a weak link for not realizing what was going on here. Google makes you click on the '...' to verified you aren't a bot and then expands the link for you. Duh.
