Characters- Stewart (the almost 17 year old neighbor to my Aunt. who I sort of a crush on), Aunt Kay, My family, Boo (my 2 almost 3 year old cousin), Stephen (13 months old cousin), Rose ( 7 year old cousin), Me(Kiki a 15 year old)Setting: Aunt Kay's van, her house, my house. Around 15 minutes later my Aunt Kay came by to pick me up. Getting the van I turned around and played peek-a-boo with my cousins who both started laughing so loud it was hilarious.It was short 2 block drive before we got to my Aunt and Uncles house. I turned around and grabbed my cousin "Boo" out of his seat and brought my stuff inside the house. The heavy school bag I swung to the floor and kicked off my flip-flops. Then played with the boys. (front door shuts my Aunt Kay leaves.)Kiki- Boo, Stephen, (both boys playfully look in my direction and laugh) what do want to do?Boo- Play!!Kiki- Alright. I said picking him up and hanging him upside down.Boo- childlike laughter comes from the upside down boy. Kiki put me down. he said laughing.Kiki- Fine. Setting him down on his head.Boo- Kiki!!!Kiki- What?Boo- Don't do that.Kiki- Why not?Boo- Because.Kiki- Alright, I won't do it again. Wanna watch Wiggles? looking at the time (its 10.)Boo- Wiggles!!! Yeah!!!I turn on the TV and walk into the kitchen to make Boo a sandwich and grab Stephen a jar of baby food before putting the boys down for a nap.Kiki- Boo? Sandwich?Boo- O.K. KikiBoo gets into
his high chair and eats his sandwich I made for him. I pick up Stephen and put him in his highchair.Kiki- Ready to eat??Stephen- cries and points to the food. I open the jar and feed him bite by bite until it's gone.Boo- All done sandwich.Kiki- O.K. Boo. Go lay down.He walks to the bedroom that he and his brother share.I walk after him to check on him. (yes Stephen is in the high chair still he's strapped in.)Kiki- Karaoke? Handing the toddler a green stuffed frog from build-a-bear.Boo- Thank you, Kiki.I give him a peck on the forehead and leave the room.Walk to the linen closet to get a washcloth when I hear Stephen crying very loud.Kiki- auggghh......I wet the washcloth down and wipe his face and hands. Then put him to in his crib.Shut the door and let him cry himself to sleep (it's the only way.)Sitting at the computer I put in my flash drive, and start my school.3 1/2 hours later I'm playing on the computer with Stephen in my lap and Boo playing with his toys behind me. I hear the door open.Kiki- Hello?!Aunt Kay- Kiki??Kiki- in the office.A few seconds later I no longer have a tank of little boy on my lap but rather I have 7 year old cousin Rose hanging on my arm asking if I could play Webkinz with her. I look at my Aunt who shakes her head.Aunt Kay- Rose, you need to do your homework first.Rose- O.K. Mommy.(Rose leaves the room)Aunt Kay- Kiki? May I use the computer?Kiki- Sure.Stepping away from the computer I sit on the floor next to Boo and play with him for a bit.Aunt Kay- Kiki you can call your Mom and tell her to come pick you up.Kiki- O.K. 3 call.Mom- Hello?Kiki- Mom, I'm done you wanna come pick me up?Mom- No I can't walk next door and ask Stewart to walk you home.Kiki- But, Mom... Do I have too?Mom- Yes you do.Kiki- Yes, Mom I'll go ask. Bye.Mom- Bye.Kiki- Bye, Aunt Kay, Boo, Stephen.Aunt Kay and Boo- Bye, Kiki.Walking towards the front door I stop in the hallKiki- bye Rose!Rose- Bye!I pick up my heavy bag and purse. Open the door to find... Stewart standing there.Kiki- umm... Hi.Stewart- Your Mom called and asked me to walk you home. Cause she couldn't pick you up.Kiki- Oh. I know. I was about to go over and ask you but came over here first.Stewart- Yeah... Sorry.Kiki- It's O.K.We walk down the side walk for a little ways when he offers to take my back pack. Which hesitate a little bit before giving it to him.Stewart- So... How did babysitting go??Kiki- Pretty good. I guess. How did your day go until my Mom called your house??Stewart- It went well. Did a little school and some chores.Kiki- Oh.We walk silently for awhile.Stewart- Kiki? umm.... uhh...Kiki- Yes?Stewart- I umm... uhh... kind of... umm... have a... uhh... crush on you.I stop arupptly.Kiki- what?Stewart- I have a crush on you.Kiki- oh.An awkward silence abounds as we walk the rest of the way to my house with this awkward silence drifting between us.Kiki- Bye, Stewart.Stewart- Kiki are you going to sign language tomorrow?Kiki- No. My parents have Bible Study at our house so I won't be able to come.Stewart- O.K. See ya around then. Bye.Kiki- Bye.I take my bag back from Stewart.Kiki- Thank you for carrying my bag. (looking up into his eyes)Stewart- *stutters* You're Welcome. Anytime.I smile. Open the door. Turn wave bye one last time to the fading figure.I sit down at my desk with the laptop and surf the Internet and post on my blog. For a couple of hours. When I hear a knock on my door.Kiki- Yes?Dad- Kiki? May I come in?Kiki- Sure. Dad.Dad- Kiki I know I missed your birthday because I was on a business trip, and I was wondering if you wanted to go out for dessert or a movie tonight.Kiki- hmm.... Sure.Dad- Only if your homework is done.Kiki- It is.Dad- O.K. well where do you want to go?Kiki- Movies.Dad- Alright. We'll be leaving in 25 minutes.Kiki- O.K.(Dad leaves the room) I shut the door and change out of the clothes I've babysitting in all day. (don't wear white when babysitting).A few minutes later I walk out of my room asking Mom if my outfit works.Mom- Looks good, Kiki.Kiki- Thanks Mom. My stuff is packed and ready for tomorrow. In fact I'll put it in the car while I'm waiting so you won't have to worry about it in the morning.Mom- Sounds good. Thank you.Kiki- Bye, Mom. (*gives a hug)As soon as I finish putting my bag in the big van my Dad walks out.Dad- Kiki lets go.Kiki- O.K.We get in the little van (well o.k. a mini-van). I turn on the radio, lean back (strapped in of course!) and listen to the world around me. (Which is easy cause the windows are open.)I smile as I sing along with the radio.Kiki- Dad?Dad- yes?Kiki- Stewart walked me home from Aunt Kay's today.Dad- yeah. what about it.Kiki- He said he had a crush on me.Dad- Oh.Kiki- What should I do about him.... I mean he admitted something pretty big in my book.How can I tell to stop flirting without crushing him like a bug under a shoe.(Silence as my Dad lets what I've just told him sink in.)Dad- Well. I'll talk to your Mom that way I can give you the best answer.Kiki- O.K.We stopped and got out of the car went into the theater.A few hours later we emerged talking about the movie.Dad- That little black girl reminded me of your little sister, Carrie.Kiki- Really? I she reminded me of the little girl on "The Cosby Show."Dad- I see that.Kiki- Daddy, Thank you for taking me out.Dad- You're Welcome, Little girl.I smile and look away I as I get in the van and once again listen to sounds of traffic, city life and the radio. The 20 minute drive home passed quickly without a word between us.As I got of the van at home.Kiki- Night, Dad. Thanks, again.Dad- Night!I walk in my room put on night clothes and go to sleep.
