We turn them into the people we want them to become. The hero we want. We listen and take in information about them that we are willing to
here and not supress. If someone starts to say negative things on someone we class as a hero we will supress what they are saying, due to the degenerative process. This process also puts the person we are classing a hero under a lot of pressure. Depending on the age group that person is appealing to, they often feel restricted to what they can do and how they do things as they do not want themselves to appear to be doing things in a negative light. When they do things in a negative light and we hear about it, due to heroification distorting their life we feel they either:
A) deserve more severe punishment then required because they tarnished the image we have of them.
or
B) we give them sympathy (sometimes more than needed due to them being a 'hero') and we let them off, sometimes one to many times.
