“P.26 E-democracy encompasses in particular e-Parliament, e-legislation, e-justice, e-mediation, e-environment, e-election, e-referendum, e-initiative, e-voting, e-consultation, e-petitioning, e-campaigning, e-polling and e-surveying.”

This should only be an indicative list of related aspects. Actually it seems we are mixing Thematic areas (environment) and tools (petitions) which is not very helpful. Moreover many eDemocracy websites relate to actions for greater transparency in politics and accessibility to public data in an intelligent and useful manner. Mashups based on public Data are very powerful tools that are not taken into consideration here.

Also, I would add e-Participatory Budgeting as a sector of e-democracy, given the exponential growth of Participatory Budgeting worldwide – including in Europe – and the ever-growing use of ICTs in PB processes. I would add the following: E-Participatory Budgeting (e-PB) concerns the use of ICTs as a means to support the participation of citizens in the decision-making process of budget allocation and monitoring public spending. Participation may take various forms, from effective decision-making power in the allocation of resources to more modest initiatives that confer voice during the development of the budget.
