“One of my favorite “design” bloggers out there is Josh Porter of Bokardo. In his most recent article, Josh contends that “ designers need a place at the strategy table because their work depends on and is a direct result of it. If it’s not already, realizing the business strategy of the organization in an interface should be the designer’s primary job description.””

It's not usually a decision made on the merit of the skill set or area of expertise. It's more about who founded the company and what deal subsequent team members managed to cut.

Right-- that's certainly the reality of the situation. But the question is: With the right designer, is having him/her at the strategy table going to make you more successful? And, if so, how can you find that right designer? And, if you're a designer, how can you change your mindset/skilset so you can BE that right designer?
