“Admin OptionsFeature Add Tags Delete Post Before I write about social work in Africa, I will inform you about some general information about the continent.Africa is the second largest continent, with 30.3 Million km² in area. That is almost 22% of the complete area of the world.About 924 million people live in Africa, which is about 14% of the world population.Africa is a continent full of adventure, as well as a great place to live and travel.Beside the impressive nature and the spacious fauna, Africa has a fascinating culture. The diversity of languages is also impressive, as well as the various traditions. As my topic, I have chosen to write about Africa and the opportunities to work for social organizations in Africa. There are a lot of different job possibilities in Africa. One option is to work with kids. Another option is the one I'll chose when my year in America is over.I plan on working at a ranch with wild animals who are in danger of becoming extinct. The ranch is located in South Africa. South Africa is located on the coast in the southern part of the continent. The coast of the continent extends over 2500 km and borders the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The name of the project I want to participate in is called Travel Works. They offer a wildlife project in Port Elizabeth. The Ranch is about 25 km north of Port Elizabeth. The entire area is about 120 hektars. The project has taken care of the breeding of these animals for more than 30 years. There are many animals who live in this area. In the game reserve, there are giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, long-tailed-monkeys and other wild animals. As a volunteer, you are often asked to take care of baby lions. Most of the time there are baby lions in the program, however, sometimes there are only grown lions. If there are no babies, the workers job is to feed the older lions, as well as the other animals.Another part of the worker’s job is to care for the animals’ homes by making sure the areas are clean. An employee also shows the park to visitors and includes them in the feeding of the animals. There are so many reasons to become a volunteer in South Africa. A person can learn all about a new culture, while improving their English and working with wild animals. Since it is a volunteer position, a person unfortunately has to pay a fee for the flight and the program. The cost for two weeks is $1900. If you choose to extend your stay, it is an additional $900.If anyone would like to learn more about social work in South Africa, there is an informative movie attached to the following link: http://www.travelworks.de/wildlife-suedafrika/loewen-video-suedafrika.html. ”
