“At what point does someone start to be seen as a serious developer? I like to think that I am, although if I have a good look around there are plenty of larger projects of greater value and exceed the scope of any work that I am involved in. So perhaps there should be some sort of criteria a individual might need to meet in order to crack that \ Capital Value of your Projects. What is the value of projects that a developer has ongoing at any point? This is a subjective issue for most. I feel that R1 million rand is too little, while R10 million puts you on the map. Somewhere in between is the threshold.Nature of projects that a developer might run.By this I mean if a project involves issues such a subdivision or perhaps some rezoning. These are issues a serious developer would be comfortable with, as they would understand processes involved and pro & cons of each.So the next logical question....How do I size up?Well I think I do OK, perhaps because I wrote the criteria *(Smile). I currently have in the region of R12 million rands worth of property spread over two projects, and have recently had the lengthily pleasure (Phew, I just make it) of completing my first subdivision. I determine capital value as the current market value of the Real Estate, not the actual capital invested.
