I have finally managed to put some pictures of the Bishops Corner building up. I feel that it would be best to start with the end result, as the un-renovated pictures are a bit manky and are not a very nice opener. The article below is from the November 2006 Property Magazine.I managed to work through a trail of previous Title Deeds, and the first reference to a building being erected on the land was in 1897 - so the building was probably build within the proceeding 10 years.
Bishops Corner was graded as a \ shortly after the redevelopment, and we worked with the Heritage Council during the renovation to ensure that we followed their guidelines. With a few cavalier developers demolishing Heritage Buildings in order to harvest the land for high rise development, a new law requires anyone demolishing a building older than 60 years to obtain Heritage Council approval first. Fairly important to know since you could be hit with a 2-year suspended sentence if found to have demolished a building of significance. Good for them I Say!The picture below was taken after the building was washed down with a high pressure hose. This is the old lady really looking her worst from the outside, although at this stage the outside was far more appealing the the interior.
