How can my students comment and not show up as me? Do they each need an account?

Create a Fresh Badge Logo!
It's totally sweet.

You guys are creating the future of Web 2.0, think big hear guys because you are it! Get on the phone with Facebook and work out a deal, they need you to compete with myspace and there foaming at the mouth for new social apps like this.
I tried it, and I thought it would be better if the comments remain after I re-saved the post.
Similarly, I wish I could use this with a Wiki. That will be super.

I just found Linebuzz, and I think it's great. I would love for it to be more customizable:
- I'd like to be able to have it open to the side of my post as opposed to over or below it,
- I'd like to be able to change the colors, embed images in the background etc.
- I'd like to be able to set attributes and format the appearance of the widget itself, as well as the comment boxes.
Don't get me wrong, this product is sheer genius, but I think it would be better the more tweakable it is. Additionally, you will be able to build a much bigger network of people who care and use it that way, fwiw.
How about measuring BOTH?
Like a lot of people, I want to be more productive. Like a lot of people, I want to work less. RescueTime allows me to understand when I'm most productive and exactly how much time I spend NOT getting stuff done (but still feeling busy).
Not QUITE the same thing. Jettask doesn't break out web sites, which is critical for a lot of people. Knowing that I've spent 30% of my time in Firefox is fairly meaningless.
Jettask also doesn't transcend a single install. What about multiple machines? Where does your data go when you buy your new machine?
There are some other (pretty damn cool) features that we have in the pipe that simply aren't possible with a local-only app.
Oh, and we're FREE. And you instantly get any bug fixes / new features...
Gosh, are we still talking about why web software is cooler than installable stuff? In 2007? ;-)
One Latte comming up. "Click"
The only difference is that, for most entrepreneurs, the invisible bridge isn't there and they fall screaming to their deaths.
Interesting article in the NYT today that talks about how the cost of patent litigation is outstripping patent profit.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/15/business/yourmoney/15proto.html/partner/rssnyt?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin
Not sure how I feel about patents... But I've never met an entrepreneur who was burned by NOT bothering to patent anything (though I've certainly read about 'em).
I agree this is oftentimes the case. It's pretty damn liberating to be small enough to not need a lot of structure.
A wise man of Steele from MIT once said to me, "Yaw, that sounds great, but how does that work for BIG projects. Are you going to build an operating with 2-3 people?" He's dead on.
But with the frameworks, libraries and turnkey hosting environments that are available nowadays, the percentage of startup ideas that can be done with a small team and a shoestring budget has gone WAY up. Three cheers for that!
I hope one feature is a browser plug in that lets me linebuzz anything on the web. That way I am not limited to only sites with linebuz embedded in it. There is a site that does this with email pretty well.
just so long as you don't get rid of the good stuff.
this is a powerful tool and I plan to use it with my composition classes at university in the fall.
What a slap in the face of GeoJoey! ;-)
Hey keep and eye out. I came up with an innovation project that I think will make it onto jobster.com soon!
As a born-and-bred American, I'm hesitant to throw out the byproduct of this "ease"...
I think American Entrepreneurs feel a bit more entitled than our immigrant counterparts.
Very Good.
If you have some questions or problems in your learning.you can write to dupola at gmail dot com.
I will reply you in time.
Congrats on the launch- looks tight! The Linebuzz front page is about 8 billion percent cooler now that I can read it. It's actually a bit addictive.
Man, your timespend is going to be frightening. I'm pretty sure all you do is code and visit Facebook. :-) Beta is VERY soon-- the app is pretty much done, we're just lagging a bit due to mediocre Rails sysadmin skillz. Ah, well.
Fantastic! It's working in Safari again!
Nice job!I like your service and new update.Especially "a comment restore tool". In the future, I also hope you can offer a tool to edit published comments, not just restore, delete,or change position.Anyway, thank to your work.
As an English user this makes the homepage MUCH more user friendly. Nice one!
Please ignore my earlier comment about losing my comments - they appeared again!
I installed a script "Bubble Tool Tips" from http://web-graphics.com/mtarchive/001717.php on my Blogger blog and LineBuzz stopped working. I decided I would much rather keep LineBuzz so deleted the other.
Unfortunately I lost all my comments.
Where's the CSS for LBACmnt?
The link to the comment that you place on my page is hard to see in my color scheme. Do I just create my own style for the class or is there a place to define it? I looked at advanced mode but did not see it there.
There comments aren't sychronized in my blog - http://rickdog.terapad.com/index.cfm?fa=contentGeneric.cwjqvereoypbgmib&pageId=108438.
They didn't start showing up in the widget until I posted several, now it only shows the third and fourth even though I've added six. All the comments show up on the linebuzz page though - http://linebuzz.com/rickdog
this is a very cool widget, this widget is also available for myspace.com users so they can just have as much fun as facebook.com users
tap tap tap. That's the sound of my foot. ;-)
Hi do you have any solution now? Sorry to trouble you again.
Mark, any thoughts about a linebuzz application on F8? I could see it being pretty sweet to have my buzz on my facebook profile. Check facebook applications under "utility" - linebuzz would fit right in.
The problem you mentioned also exsits in a traditional BBS forum. Really a trade off....But one sometimes may need to edit a post in the case of typos, grammer mistakes, or an updated idea.
Thank you for the suggestions. #2 is straightforward. About #1, what about if someone has replied to your comment, should you still be able to edit it then? If so, the reply may not make sense or apply anymore. Maybe add the ability to edit comments unless someone has replied?
Could you please try to add the following two features?
1 Edit the comment that one himself/herself have posted before.
2 Everytime when I logged on Linebuzz.com and found some new comments, I had to link to the original page (my own blog site) to reply the new comments posted on it. But I think it is FAR more convinient if I can just reply them in the linebuzz.com site.
On blogger I have it working but I had a line post which is open somewhere when I got to the text after two days it is still saying that the text is being commented on by someone.
I cannot seem to put linebuzz into my Wordpress? Any suggestions? I get the code showing in the widget I am putting the code into.
Can't i use it in my Space?
How?
^_^
大家怎么都到外国网站上用中文说话啊
^_^
You better Watch out you better not cry, you better not pout i'm tellin' you why, Linebuzz is coming to town.
Thanks for reporting this issue. We'll look into this and get back to you soon.
Hello, there maybe a clash somewhere with your script and the TinyMCE Editor Javascript. I am using Simple Forum in my own hosted wordpress blog and it is not working right now, however i found it can be working well if i remove linebuzz javascript from my sidebar. I have check with Simple Forum developer, and he suggested me to check the compatibility between your javascript and TinyMCE. My url is http://clblog.net, please help, as i like both forum and linebuzz very much. Thank you.
Are there ways to access the CSS? I have an issue with the links on one of my pages because they take on the characteristics of the block links from a list. I can make changes on my end to compensate, but if you could point me to a way to just override or custom-name CSS link behavior, that would be swell.

Heard about our story through hecaitou.net and really touched by your Professionalism. We‘ve changed our site into UTF-8, but still got some problems, such all comments will exist under Firefox but no trail of any comment under IE. Hope you can give us a hint. Thx and good luck! www.zen-tea.com

BTW,Who can tell me how to remove the shadow image of the linebuzz box?
似乎在首页有说明的,linebuzz在页面加载完毕后再加载,不会拖慢速度...事实也证明如此
cool stuff! i heard about Buzz's Chinese version trouble,i really hope i could help somehow, but i don't have much free time(10 months before graduation:P)
wish you luck buddy!:))
P.S: if it won't take too much time, i'll still be very glad to help :)
有两点希望:
1、不要拖慢页面加载速度
2、期待有中文界面
When LineBuzz meets Keyword, What's gonna happen?
Maybe a new searching engine or a Tag cloud?

Come on! Here is not Bastogne, and you are not the General McAuliffe. But it seems that linebuzz is really buzzing now.
Looking forward to the update.

And I've submitted linebuzz to Google, yahoo and Msn.
辛苦啦!希望能尽快推出中文版,这样更容易让中文用户使用!
Internationalization, often called I18N (the 18 is the count of letters beween the leading I and the last letter N) takes the process of localization one step further. Rather than rework software, products and content for multiple languages and cultures, it makes sense to design and engineer them to accommodate various locales and languages. The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) defines I18N as:
"...the process of generalizing a product so that it can handle multiple languages and cultural conventions without the need for re-design. Internationalization takes place at the level of program design and document development."
A sample of the tasks involved in internationalization include:
* creating language standards and style sheets,
* designing software with proper encoding and interface standards,
* establishing efficient update processes and workflow for web content,
* designing appropriate documentation standards and templates,
* developing graphics to ensure cultural acceptability and to handle graphic text translation effectively.
Mark, Thanks a lot. You are super quick in responding.
OK, I apologize, lagopi. I was q bit quick to judge. You aren't a whiner. You are, however, a much more content-worthy blogger to which Mark could have directed his readers. I'm just an idiot with a blogspot account and just enough programming knowledge to break stuff. Mark, I still appreciate the plug, but puh-leeze point your techno-savvy LineBuzzers to lagopi's cool blog--they won't be sorry! :)
What a big whiner, lagopi! heh heh heh... How 'bout if I mention YOUR blog on MY site? Would that make it better?? :)
(And thanks for the plug, Mark! LineBuzz is the coolest.)
What?! You don't blog for the sheer love of blogging? I am outraged!
Mark, I have posted about linebuzz and installed it too. I would have been happier, had you mentioned about my blog. Anyway, never mind. Good luck.
That has to do with the options being passed to the flash object...I think that when the object tag (or embed tag...I would actually have to look at the source) you would need to pass in:
wmode=transparent
This allows dom objects to float above flash movies.
Thanks mark. I will soon be posting about you. may be in 1 hr.
Another thing i noticed in another blog:
the comments disappear behind an embedded youtube video object. that makes the comments unreadable.
Ok Great. I removed it too and linebuzz works fine now. Mark, you are so good. Thanks. Now one question: Should my readers register in linebuzz in order to comment in my blog?
BTW, I am writing a post on LineBuzz. Very exciting concept.
mark, thanks for your help. i removed that widget. still not working.
please check now. still not working.
i did as you said. my blog is at http://lagopi.blogspot.com. It doesn't seem to be working. shd my readers be registered users of linebuzz to post inline comments in my blog?
i guess this means no beers tonight, eh :-)
sleep is for wimps! You've got a superbly workable idea here, and you got to get some shut eye?
Updated softare to support various characters è è which now display properly in the popup.
that can be my excuse in case the translation is not perfect :-)
お休み!
100shiki.com is not in Chinese. It's in Japanese ;)
I wish the popup of linebuzz be response for 2bits character.
I forget some info: browser firefox 2.0, XP
Hi Mark
First: my english is pure basic so, pardon me (i' m italian)
Regarding the little bug with character and accents in the popup: i need the è but the encoding is this è (è)...
Well,i must be the second.o(∩_∩)o...
I will - this looks great so far! Will definitely think about putting it into my blog, nice job guys :)
Just ten minutes of use and first opinion is good...

Yes, but how often is the context going to be worthless garbage -- and what about comment spam?
Can't wait for that launch!
I found out about it over at ProBlogger. Great stuff, I have been waiting for something like this!! Well done guys.
Check out who else is using it here:
http://www.technorati.com/search/linebuzz
Can ordinary websites use it too?
What? My lame blog isn't newsworthy? ;-)
Cool, because I <3 safari.
Kerry & Mark, I cannot see how to insert custom scripts like this for my typepad blog (http://virtualalumn.typepad.com/plu) maybe we can chat on google if you have a quick idea?
Excellent! That bug was annoying!
