You have to wonder what that guy was thinking stringing you along for so long. Your plan for next time makes sense letting them know up front - that way both parties can track progress.

Assuming you weren't able to put up more cash, for next time would it have been possible to set early deliverables that if weren't met, you could fire him and hire someone else? What might those early deliverables have been to clue you in that this guy was a bozo?

It'd be interesting to chat about hosting services in this context. Different sector, but similar issues.

This is an astounding figure and would mean that 3 properties would currently be going through the foreclosure process in the housing estate where I live. There has not been a single foreclosure within the last 3 years to my knowledge, so it gives you some perspective when compared to the South African situation.

This figure has actually increased to 17700 in 2 days. A really great performance.

I feel that the age of the site has a lesser weighting than one would imagine. We have had some success with websites that are only a few months old through focusing on the remaining 9 points mentioned here.

Hi Kerry - Love the glasses, Well it's an interesting one. What I know now is that I should have asked him for proof of the submission, but the problem was that I would have been accusing him of lying. The proof would have taken the form of a tracking number that is issued to his company and technically something that clients typically don’t have access to. So I did not for ask for it until I was convinced that something was wrong. He happens to work for one of the top firms that do this type of work, and I was concerned about accusing him until I was fairly certain something was wrong. I have subsequently managed to involve the primary partner in the firm who has been delivering well since I explained his partners conduct. So I think next time I will insist that I keep duplicate records of all communication that these chaps have with the city council, and to tell them that’s my intention from the get go so it won’t seem accusing to ask for copies as we go along.

We are in the process of pursuing this nasty little matter.
